A look into “The Song House”—a songwriting collective.

The Song House Co is a collective of songwriters, based in Nashville, TN. It is a community that allows up and coming songwriters to get together and allow their creativity to flow. They gather 12-15 people together on a weekly basis, pull names from a hat and assign them to random teams. These various groups, then receive an overall word, theme, or prompt and are given 30 minutes to write a hook.

I thought this was truly such a unique, yet refreshing concept! It not only allows songwriters to collaborate in new ways, but also keeps the creativity flowing on a normal basis. Music has always been something that I have been drawn to! As a vocalist myself, the way a person tells a story through a song has always fascinated me. I think many people, like me, used to think songs take forever to write, and can take upwards of weeks to finish. While this is true, in some cases, others can be written very quickly, depending on the environment or the flow of ideas.

The Song House seems to challenge songwriters to think quickly. As stated above, they are given a specific prompt or word and then have ONLY 30 minutes to write a hook. To some this may sound easy, to others this may sound like a nightmare; regardless these talented people always end up with the most beautiful results. Along with the INCREDIBLE talent, this collective have also found a very unique way with their social media presence. The first time I came across their videos, I was scrolling on TikTok. It presented the word that given to them, and then showcased each groups song! It felt very personal because most of the hooks that have been written felt so very heartfelt and dealt with real emotions or problems.

On top of getting to see new hooks being written every week, some of those have been turned into full songs! Many of which are within different genres and tones of writing. It truly allows the diversity of such a large group to be shown, and proves that collaborating with other songwriters can bring forth such amazing results!!

They have TikTok, Instagram, Youtube as well as their own website!! I will also leave their Spotify so that you can go check out these incredible songs, and see what they mean to you.
