Celebrating Briston Maroneys First Album: Sunflower

Via Briston Maroney on Spotify

As a long time fan of Briston Maroney, I was so excited when he announced the release of this long awaited album on February 10th of 2021! Just two years ago!

On April 9th of 2021, this 10 track master piece was released, and then a year later, the deluxe version came out with new songs; 2 of which had featured artists, Genevieve Stokes and the Manchester Orchestra.

Songs like Bottle Rocket, It’s Still Cool If You Don’t, Deep Sea Diver, and Rollercaoster; absolutely captivated me. The way he sings with such emotion puts you in it with him. If an artist can make you feel what they’re feeling, that says enough in itself about their music.

In an Instagram post on April 10th, 2023 (just two years later) paying tribute to his first album, Maroney says:

“my first full length album turns 2 today:) good lord, I love that little short haired boy in this picture, so naive to how strange and amazing life would become:) Can't wait for chapter 2:)”

That led me to such a sweet place from that short, but heartfelt message. Being a long time fan, it’s been really nice to watch Maroney grow into the artist that he is today. He truly has blossomed.

Since his release of Sunflower he has gotten to tour with some pretty amazing artists like Jack White, Mt. Joy, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise. He’s currently booting up to join tour with Noah Khan, so if you ever have the opportunity to hear Sunflower live, DO IT!
