Song Review: Jonas Brothers’ “Waffle House”

Via The Jonas Brothers on Spotify

On April 7th, the Jonas Brothers (a famous trio from New Jersey who rose to fame in 2006) released the second single off their new project titled "Waffle House". This followed soon after the release of the first single “Wings" which had a stunning, yet hilarious music video. Many fans of this trio have been giving the songs extra love, as they anxiously await the release of "The Album" on May 12th.

Waffle House grew in popularity even before its official release as it began trending on Tiktok just days after the preview was posted on the Jonas Brothers official account. They gave us insight into how the song came to be; releasing episodes of the recording process, briefly explaining the idea behind it, and how it helped them cope throughout the past few years both in the spotlight and in their personal lives. There were even clips of fans being given free tickets to their stunning FIVE NIGHTS on Broadway.

This song perfectly fits the new sound the Jonas Brothers have been forming since their reunion, keeping that upbeat vibe that just makes you want to dance around the room. Coming in strong with those bass notes and mixing in the groovy piano as well as the airy backing vocals, causes for a sense of happiness as they lead into the chorus, "No don't get stressed, it's gonna get figured out." It's hard not to feel positive vibes as you listen. The finishing move? A lighter, more gentle verse with a choir leading you into a sense of comfort before they bring it back upbeat for one last hoo-rah. Truly a simple yet such a dynamic song.

One thing I have noticed they tend to do in excellence is putting truly deep meanings into their lyrics. It speaks of having tough conversations, facing problems head on, and despite being frustrated that they always did it out of love for each other. Openness has been a big step for them as they've navigated explaining the hardships they faced as brothers, and what it took to heal it. This song, in my opinion, illustrates that beautifully, taking us on a journey into the pain of it all; yet knowing that despite all that, their love for each other would never fail.

For many fans, it brought on a sense of understanding for why they took a break so long but also a sense of contentment, now being able to see how much they have grown not only as brothers, but as fathers too. I HIGHLY suggest listening to this song if you haven't already! It makes me super excited for the future releases and what this album will bring us! Be sure to check out the full release on May 12th!
