Enough For Me by Hongjoin song review

Hongjoin is a 22 year old singer, born in Singapore but based now in Boston. He is an , overall, very involved artist as he produces all of his tracks. He has two prior works; Petrichor and F(OOL) which released in the last two years. Along with being very involved in his music, he also has found a way for it to be a multi-genre engagement. Anywhere from fold, indie-pop, alt-rock or even R&B. He debuted in 2021 and as an independent artist has truly made his mark in the music business by amassing millions of streams.

His newest single "Enough For Me" released on February 13th, and is one that hongjoin himself would describe as "Simple Love".

This track is very unique; it stood out most to me instrumentally. It has a synthesizer in the back that mimics what i could describe as "elevator music", but in the BEST way possible. It starts off with very soft vocals and quite simple but soon blossoms into a very upbeat, joyful tone. His vocals never go too strong but i think that is what makes the song so special. The best love songs, in my opinion, are ones that can replicate those giddy or joyful feelings that come from a relationship or crush; this song embodies that in every way. It reminds me of songs like "Marry Me" by Bruno Mars; meaning that it has that tone lyrics wise that are so meaningful, with an instrumental that makes it feel like you’re floating almost. It arises feelings of happiness and aids in bringing up memories or thoughts of the person whom you would dedicate the song to.

Overall, i was very impressed with the song, and knowing hongjoin is an independent artist and does everything himself, only doubles my respect.

According to hongjoin

"He hopes for this song to be an anthem for those in love, and the jam for those genuine platonic friendships."

I, too, was impressed hearing this because most love songs only pertain to the romantic side of things. However, I love that he took the stance of having love between friends or making a point that blossoming friendships take priority too. That is such a beautiful approach.

With him being an independent artist, i highly suggest going to support him, if you enjoy this recent project! I know I will be for sure adding it to my playlist and keeping up with all he does! I, also encourage you to check out his last projects as well! Sounds like he has many stories to tell, and i cant wait to hear more!
