EP Review: “I Don’t Get Breakups” by BIZZY

Out for right at a month now, BIZZY’s debut EP “I Don’t Get Breakups” is fun and spunky. This 6 track EP consists of 4 previously released singles and 2 features. I’ve always felt like BIZZY’s style of pop music was something all her own, largely due to her incredible voice.

“Just Yet” was my introductory song to BIZZY and remains my favorite piece of her work. The song’s lyricism intertwined with her stunning vocals paint a clear picture of how she’s feeling, making it easy to empathize. The lyrics speak for themselves initially, with only a guitar played with the song throughout the first verse but as the song begins to swell, particularly in the second run of the chorus, it turns emotional and raw. “His Side” adds any element to the song that makes the tone different, ever so slightly by adding the other point of view of the breakup.

It feels only right to talk about one of the more upbeat songs on the EP after discussing one of the heart wrenching ballads, so let’s talk a little bit about “Spinach in my Teeth”. The song paints a picture of how after a breakup, BIZZY’s friends all celebrate, basically saying “we never liked him anyway” while she was clueless that this was how they all felt. She compares the feeling of dating someone for five years that no one liked to walking around with spinach in her teeth.

“I Don’t Get Breakups” featuring these songs and more is available now wherever you stream music.
