Song Review: Farewell For Now- Greta Van Fleet

The third single from their much anticipated, upcoming album Starcatcher, Michigan rock band Greta Van Fleet’s “Farewell For Now” is available for our listening pleasure.

The instrumentals for this song are simple, light and airy, making the mecca of the song the lyrics. The flow of instruments are euphonious and not overwhelming or distracting from the message of the song.

With lyrics such as “it means the world to play”, “you floor us”, and “I wish we all could stay”, the band’s gratitude to and for their fans (who they address as “friends” throughout the song) is palpable. Backing vocals from drummer Danny Wagner and guitarist Jake Kiszka make the proclamations in this song feel as though they are coming from a united front. Other lyrics like “had ourselves a really good time”, “friends who’ve come so far to join us” and “we hope you come and join us again” feel especially commemorative of the experience of gathering together at a Greta Van Fleet show.

Simply put, “Farewell For Now” is a love letter, a thank you note, an acknowledgement that being a fan of Greta Van Fleet is not a one sided relationship. This is a band of brothers that feels and celebrates the love of their fans and this song makes sure the fans know it’s mutual, that they “do it all for you”...

“Farewell For Now” and two other singles from Starcatcher are out now, with the full album release to come on July 21st.
