Song Review: Nothing Left to Say by Jombi

On the rise Memphis Tennessee rock band, Jombi, has released their first single off their new Sophmore LP.

This song features a gravitating melodic opening with guitar picking and a light bass in the back, that soon turns into a powerful drum and guitar opening before strong vocals come in and sweep you off your feet.

Lyrics that really stuck out to me:

“Stuck in between your world and mine, forever lost creating time. So here we stand broken ashamed and I know I won’t see you again.”

My take on these lyrics tell me the writer is feeling confusion and maybe a bit of pain from the loss of a relationship. I think this is a very relatable statement, as we move through life changing events, lost relationships, heartbreak, and more, we tend to feel lost and there’s always a push and pull between us and the other(s) involved. It can be a very confusing and such alone feeling.

The melodic guitar and chiming drums build up to a more stronger take of the song. More rasp in the vocals gives more feeling of pain but they slowly die out into a soft release at the end of the song showing acceptance of the writers situation.

Final take from the song:

Maybe I’m an emotional person or maybe they have an amazing way of portraying emotions, but I truly could feel this song!

This song validates that feeling of confusion, pain, aloneness or at a stand still after a loss.

I really enjoyed the lyrics as well as the strong instrumental build up.

I can’t wait to see what they do next.

If you haven’t heard of Jombi, now you have! They always serve the best in every aspect. You can find them on all streaming platforms.

Be on the look out for their Sophmore LP!
